Telling the difference between "typical teenage behavior" and a red flag.Library: Chester County Library & District Center
Dr. Janet Sasson-Edgette, Psy.D. tells us that the present day narrative about adolescence in this country says that teenagers are supposed to get moody, irresponsible, non-communicative and generally unpleasant to be around. That sets the bar pretty low and makes it hard for parents to know when their teen's unbecoming or worrisome behavior is actually signaling a need for professional attention. Let's talk about how to differentiate between behaviors that are truly age-appropriate and those that we have come to recognize as being reliable red flags for problems already taking place or likely to developing the future. This program supports the PA Forward Health Literacy Initiative.
