Is Archaeology Really Like Indiana Jones?

Event Type: Adults
Date: 2/5/2020
Start Time: 3:00 PM
End Time: 4:00 PM
Description:
Petra, nestled in a mountainous basin of Jordan, is famous for its rock-cut tombs and monuments. It served as a major trading center of the ancient world, and as a backdrop for scenes in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. After a series of earthquakes in about 400 AD, Petra lay abandoned; it was not rediscovered until 1812. "Dr. Steve” Phillips, Ph.D, from Penn Museum, will take us behind the scenes on a dig site, where we will learn archaeology techniques and whether or not archaeology is like Indiana Jones.
