The new decade is here, and so many of us are making resolutions to get in shape, eat better, and take care of our bodies. If you are trying to make this year a healthier one but aren’t sure how to start, or even if you’re trying to maintain your fitness goals from last year, we have the event for you! The library is hosting a Fit Fair on Saturday, January 25th. We will be offering free health and wellness programs, as well as information booths for gyms, businesses, and health organizations from around Chester County.Library: Chester County Library
For those interested in eating better, there will be a cooking demonstration presented by Kimberton Whole Foods. If exercise is your top priority this year, you will want to check out the exercise classes and martial arts presentations taking place in the Struble Room. There will also be free onsite health screenings available from the Chester County Health Department. Not to mention, many other local organizations will be providing information about their own programs and services, the hottest health and fitness trends, and so much more! So if you are looking for a good first step on your path to a healthier decade, mark your calendar, because the Fit Fair is an event you won’t want to miss!
Fit Fair Programming
10 am - Elemental All-Levels Yoga - Presented by Elemental Yoga *
Sarah York from Elemental Yoga Studio in Coatesville will be guiding a 45 minute all-levels yoga class including movement, breath and meditation. This session will calm the mind and open the body in a safe and empowering way.
11 am - Healthy Sweet Treats for Your Valentine - Presented by Kimberton Whole Foods
Join the authors of the Kimberton Whole Foods Cookbook: A Family History with Recipes for a cooking demonstration and the chance to taste a sweet treat that features healthy ingredient alternatives. They will also share what’s to love about local when it comes to baking. A book signing will follow their presentation.
12 PM - Self-Defense Training - Presented BY Kirk's Premier Martial Arts and Krav Maga
Self-Defense training is a vital tool not just for resolving physical confrontations, but also for avoiding them entirely. Using the principles of Krav Maga to hone situational awareness, learn practical techniques to quickly incapacitate even larger or more powerful opponents through targeted strike zones and body-mass leverage.
1 PM - All-Levels Vinyasa Yoga - Presented BY Zia Yoga & Wellness *
Join Zia Yoga & Wellness Founder and 500H Master Yoga Teacher, Kristin Schultz for this all-levels accessible vinyasa yoga practice. Translated, Vinyasa means “connection.” This class synchronizes movement with breath which helps the practitioner develop a greater sense of self-awareness, balance, and harmony with themselves and their environment.
* Participants should bring a yoga mat and blocks and blanket if you have them.
