 This program will introduce participants to changes in the family structure and dynamics throughout the last five decades and its effects on the family. This presentation will examine the meaning of what Attachment is and the importance it plays in the psychological development of an individual from birth through adolescence and into adulthood. It looks at the theory and practice of the interactions between the parent(s)/caregiver(s) and how this relationship can affect the child into his or her future. The presentation will explore stages of development associated with attachment and how various types and styles are produced depending on the relationship between the parent/caregiver and child. Finally, examine the basic principles involved in improving relationships and communications between the parent/caregiver and child. This program supports the PA Forward Health Literacy Initiative.
