|Balance Decline with Aging and Fall Prevention|
Event Type: Adults|
Start Time: 6:00 PM
End Time: 7:30 PM
Falls are a serious health risk for older people. For many older adults, a fall is a life-changing event that can lead to a disability, loss of independence or even death. One out of three community-dwelling adults 65 and older falls every year, and 20% to 30% of those who fall sustain moderate to severe injuries such as lacerations, fractures, and head injuries.Library: Henrietta Hankin Branch Library
Falls, with or without injury, also carry a heavy quality of life impact. A growing number of older adults fear falling and, as a result, limit their activities and social engagements. This can result in further physical decline, depression, social isolation, and feelings of helplessness.
BeWell Home Physical Therapy is providing an educational class to seniors. The presentation will be followed by fall risk tests by a doctorate physical therapist. Our goal is to increase the awareness of seniors in their balance level in order to prevent future falls and injuries.
Registration required. This class supports PA Forwards Health Literacy.
