Omaha Beach and the Landscape of D-Day

 Registration is required. This presentation will examine historic and modern photographs and maps to illustrate the nature of the “landscape of D-Day” in geographical and human terms. Some of the images are famous, others are virtually unknown, but many have the power to be informative and emotionally moving. There will also be a brief discussion of the mission of the Army Heritage Center Foundation in Carlisle, PA. Speaker, Dr. Brooke Blades is a local archaeologist and historian whose research includes examinations of sites from the Second World War in France, Belgium, Holland and Luxembourg.
